Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- The search bar doesn’t have a unique label attribute. This fails WCAG 2.0 success criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships.
- The cookie banner checkboxes have the same attribute name and aren’t grouped inside a fieldset. This fails WCAG 2.0 success criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships.
- The social media icons at the footer aren’t written semantically which might cause difficulties for assistive technology users. This fails WCAG 2.0 success criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships.
- Some form fields on the Contact page don’t provide descriptive correction text to help users understand what went wrong when filling the form and how to fix it. This fails WCAG 2.0 success criterion 3.3.3 Error Suggestion.
- The copyright text at the footer overlaps with the social media icons on mobile or when zoomed over 400% on desktop. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.11 Focused Not Obscured (Minimum).
- On pages with tabbed content, for example Flooding, some elements don’t have valid ARIA role values. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value.
- Embedded video content, for example on the Severe weather page, isn’t seen or properly interacted with by screen readers. This fails WCAG 2.0 success criterion 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value; 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks; and 2.1.1 Keyboard.
We’re working to resolve the above issues by 31 July 2026.
