As winter approaches, people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are being asked to think about how they’d cope with a prolonged loss of utilities like gas, electricity or water – and to make sure they’re prepared.
A free webinar on ‘Preparing for Utility Outages’ will be held on Tuesday 29 September (and repeated on 14 October), as part of our Risk Ready Communities initiative.
A loss of utilities can cause disruption to homes and businesses and could affect:
Alice Moorcroft-Hughes, Delivery Manager for Risk Ready Communities, said: “Our national and local utility systems are strong but they can be affected by faults, cyber attacks or other disruptions.
“It’s always a good idea to be prepared for the worst, just in case. Small steps like keeping a list of emergency phone numbers handy or getting a supply of bottled water can make all the difference, if the worst happens.”
