Multiple agencies, including the Ministry of Defence and Rutland County Council, are working with the Local Resilience Forum (LRF) for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to carry out a regulated training exercise at Kendrew Barracks, Cottesmore.
The exercise will run from Sunday 11 October to Friday 16 October, from around 7am until 7pm each day, and involve multi-agency coordination to test and improve emergency response procedures.
All of the activity will remain within the confines of the Kendrew Barracks site. However, residents may notice an increase in the movement of emergency and military vehicles and other associated traffic in the area for the duration of the exercise.
Residents and businesses are advised that this is a controlled and carefully planned exercise, with no hazards to the public or cause for concern.
In 2025/26, the LRF delivered training and exercising sessions to 1,001 people, helping to sharpen multi-agency emergency response across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
