Volunteering

We’re always looking for residents to volunteer to help their communities stay safe and well during a major incident.

Become a Community Flood Warden

You might want to consider volunteering as a Flood Warden. Our Flood Warden volunteers provide vital support and information to communities before, during and after a flood.

Responding agencies keep us informed of what’s happening and what we might need to do during a response. For example, if homes are flooded, the evacuated residents may need a Rest Centre setting up in order to co-ordinate the support they will need.

We ask our Flood Wardens to report blocked drains or blockages in local brooks or streams and to provide advice to residents who may have flooded or may be at risk of flooding about what they could do to protect their homes and businesses.

Flood Wardens should never enter flood water. There are specially trained responders to undertake this role and this is not included in the Flood Warden role.

Should you wish to become a Flood Warden volunteer, please contact us.
