Introducing Risk Ready Communities!
Emergencies like these can have devastating outcomes – but communities can respond quicker and recover faster, if they prepare in advance.
Risk Ready Communities is being launched by the Local Resilience Forum (LRF), in partnership with charity Groundwork Five Counties and Communities Prepared (a Groundwork South programme).
Communities will receive targeted support to identify and prepare for key risks, helping to reduce the impact of emergencies and speed up recovery. The programme is open to all local residents, community groups, local councils and faith groups across LLR.
Risk Ready Communities provides the tools and guidance for communities to develop or update their own bespoke Community Response Plans. These plans identify key local risks and the actions people can take to tackle them, before, during and after an incident.
Interested groups will get access to free webinars, workshops and in-person events to help them strengthen their community resilience. Events will run by local experts from the LRF and charity Groundwork Five Counties, which has expertise in local community outreach.
Key risks like flooding and power cuts can strike anywhere at any time. The Risk Ready Communities programme offers tailored support to help communities reduce the impact of emergencies, respond more effectively and recover faster.
Kristy added: “It’s important that everyone in the community is aware of the actions they can take in an emergency, and that we all look out for each other to make sure our communities are truly ‘risk ready’. "
Communities can visit Risk Ready Communities to find out more about the programme and sign up for the first webinar, which will run on Thursday 16 April (daytime session) and Tuesday 21 April (evening session).
