Develop a Community Response Plan
When a major incident occurs, the emergency services focus on helping the most vulnerable. They prioritise those whose lives are at risk.
Your community may be affected but not get help right away, so we want to encourage you to be in a position to help yourself and others in those exceptional circumstances.

Preparing for emergencies
Communities can do a great deal to help themselves, to support each other and to safeguard their most vulnerable members.
A Community Response Plan will help you name the skills, knowledge and resources that can be used to help those within the community who have been impacted.
To support your community, you can:
- check with your town / parish council for a Community Response Plan. If this isn’t applicable to where you live, you can approach your Tenants or Resident’s Association to see what plans are in place
- Get involved if a Community Response Plan exists
- Use our template to create a Community Response Team and Plan if one doesn't exist
- consider who should help you write your Community Response Plan
