Invite us along to help your community get 'risk ready'!

We loved meeting people at Leicester's Riverside Festival and chatting about the small things we can all do to be 'risk ready' - so why not invite us along to your next community event?
Our Risk Ready Communities team spoke to more than 100 visitors at the Riverside Festival about ways to strengthen their individual and community resilience.

People visiting our stand also had a chance to make their own emergency kit, plot their local risks on our magnetic risk map, and have a go at making a paper ‘chatterbox’ toy!

Alice Moorcroft-Hughes, Delivery Manager for the programme, said: "It was great to speak to so many people and be able to give them advice and 'quick wins' that will help them to be better prepared for local risks."

"In a world of increasing risks, we're here to help people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland plan ahead so they can act faster and recover quicker, in an emergency."

For 'quick wins' to help your home and community become more resilient:

  • Identify your local risks and know where to find trusted local risk information
  • Keep a stock of essential supplies, in case you need to stay at home
  • Check in on relatives and neighbours, particularly older people and those who may find it harder to cope in an emergency

Risk Ready Communities is led by the LRF in partnership with Groundwork Five Counties and Communities Prepared (a Groundwork South project). The programme offers free webinars, workshops and resources to people and communities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
